Consistent with guidance from the New York State Education Department, persistent wind chills or cold temperatures of -25 degrees or greater may delay or close school.
When temperature drops into single digit or below and school is still open, we have the following policies in place to support our students:
- Students will not have to wait outside for the arrival bell to enter the school. Instead, we will allow students to enter the school upon arrival and wait indoors for school to begin.
- Bus drivers will offer rides to school to walkers that they see on their route.
- Bus drivers will wait a little extra time at each stop for those that wait inside their homes rather than at the end of their driveways.
Please make sure your student has the appropriate outerwear. If your student is in need of a warmer jacket, hat, scarf, boots or mittens, please contact the main office of your child’s school.
