On December 5, Sean Hyland of Hyland Timber Framing in Alfred Station, NY, hosted an assembly for 375 students, sharing the story of his career and experience in the timber framing industry.
Hyland spoke to students about the art and precision involved in timber framing. A key highlight was his demonstration of conceptual designing through software. He showed how Hyland Timber uses a variety of wood to create unique projects with precision construction using the latest building techniques.
Students in Art, Residential Design, Technical Drawing, Career Finacial Management and Algebra 8X classes, as well as guest students from GST BOCES representing eight local schools, attended the event. The session provided students with a valuable glimpse into the intersection of art, design, technology and construction.
