HHS students win top spots at mathematics competition

Students in Mary Franklin’s calculus classes won second place in the W. Varick Nevins III High School Mathematics Competition at Alfred University.
Of the approximately 150 students competing, six awards were given out. Hornell’s Logan McGregor was awarded a cash prize along with a $6,000 scholarship for his third place in the Senior Division (high school juniors and seniors). Nicolas Gray was awarded a cash prize for his second-place finish in the Junior Division (high school Sophomores and younger).  As a team, Hornell placed second, being edged out by Corning-Painted Post. 
Students participating in addition to Nick and Logan were Norah Foreman, Vivian Smith, Nolan McGregor, Quentin Bale, Gennaro Picco, Riley Hyer, Peyton Van Caeseele, Demetris Madamopoulos, Spencer Hopper and Hunter Mosher.  Congratulations to the entire team for their excellent achievement!
