Have you ever wondered how the Hornell CSD website is updated, who makes the newsletters that appear at your door, or who you’re talking to on the district’s social media accounts? It is the BOCES Communications Service that lends part-time support to our district. The communications office is dedicated to making sure the lines of communication between the district, the members of our district, and the community are strong. We encourage ideas and feedback. You’re a large part of our job, so your feedback can only help us grow and be better at serving you.
Contact us for:
- Questions about the district (if we don’t know the answer, we’ll direct you to who does!)
- Coverage on the district’s website or social media accounts
- Questions or feedback about district publications
- Media inquiries
- School news story suggestions
For a large portion of the day, you leave your kids in the school’s care. The education of the students in our community is a responsibility we don’t take lightly, and something we know doesn’t stop when students leave school. Working together has always been a huge part of our process, so please utilize the following resources for staying connected to our schools!
For questions about Synergy ParentVUE or Remind, contact the Technology Department at (607) 324-1302 ext. 1510 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
Synergy is our grading and attendance platform. Parents with students in grades 7-12 will be able to access their student’s account to monitor classroom information, including grades and attendance. For more information, visit our Synergy ParentVue app startup guide.
Remind is our classroom communication tool that makes it easy to stay involved with your child’s learning. You can use Remind to send and receive messages from your student’s school on any device in the Remind App, or even a simple text message or email from your phone. For more information, visit the Remind startup guide.
Remind includes a built-in translation feature. You can send messages to your student’s teacher in your preferred language and they’ll automatically be translated into the teacher’s preferred language. We’ve already set the preferred language for you and your child. Click here to learn more about how to send a translated message.
If you are a current K-12 parent/guardian or the parent/guardian of an incoming kindergartner you have already been signed up for BlackBoard through contact information that is automatically entered at the time of student registration.
A School Hour Emergency would be an alert about something that has occurred during the school day that requires us to contact you immediately.
Our goal for Hornell CSD’s social media is to create a dialogue with our fellow community members, and we cannot do that without hearing from you. We encourage you to join us there and post your comments, questions, and even media to our page. Why? Because what makes our great district run are the people behind it, and also the people we serve. We couldn’t do it without you.
Your voice matters to us. However, we ask that your posts on the Hornell CSD social media pages follow our rules and guidelines, and that anything we talk about there is district-related. Because our focus has always been students, the social media pages will be closely watched and moderated.
- Ask questions, but please maintain student privacy.
- Share media, but be mindful and use good judgment about what you post.
- If you run a local business, we wish you success, but we will not allow promotion of your business on our social media pages. We are education focused.
Get up-to-date district news, view photos and videos of school events and receive news about district, building, student and staff achievements through the district’s social media channels.
