District launches new school-to-home communication tools

Dear Hornell Families,

I’d like to share some of the exciting upgrades the Hornell City School District technology department has recently made to improve school-to-home communication.

Synergy is our new grading and attendance platform. Parents with students in grades 7-12 will be able to access their student’s account to monitor classroom information, including grades and attendance.

Remind is a new classroom communication tool that makes it easy to stay involved with your child’s learning. You can use Remind to send and receive messages from your student’s school on any device in the Remind App, or even a simple text message or email from your phone. We’re excited to use Remind to make connecting with your family more engaging!

You should have received a welcome message with the information you need to finish setting up your accounts. Please check your email inbox, as well as your spam folder, or your text messages for this information.

Below are links to more information on how to get started using each platform:

Improved translation features

Remind includes a built-in translation feature. You can send messages to your student’s teacher in your preferred language and they’ll automatically be translated into the teacher’s preferred language. We’ve already set the preferred language for you and your child. Click here to learn more about how to send a translated message.

You can contact the Technology Department with any questions or for help setting up your accounts or changing your preferred language: (607) 324-1302 ext. 1510 or eli.marcus@hornellcsd.org.

Sincerely,

Eli Marcus
Director of Technology
