North Hornell 3PK, 4PK and Kindergarten Now Open

2026–2027 School Year

Registration will be open from February 2, 2026 through March 2, 2026. All completed applications received during this period will be held until March 2, 2026.

If the number of completed applications for 3PK and 4PK exceeds available space, the district will conduct a lottery to determine placement. Resident students will be given preference in the lottery. Any students not selected will be placed on a waitlist.

Families may continue to register students for the 3PK and 4PK programs after March 2, 2026. At that time, registration will move to a first-come, first-accepted basis for resident students, as space allows.

Non-resident students who register after March 2, 2026 will have their applications held until July 1, 2026. On that date, the district will determine whether space is available or if the student will be placed on a waitlist.

WHO IS ELIGIBLE?

  •         3PK: Children who turn 3 years old on or before December 1, 2026
  •         4PK: Children who turn 4 years old on or before December 1, 2026
  •         Kindgergarten: Children who turn 5 years old on or before December 1, 2026 (If you child is eligible for Kindergarten, they may not register for 4PK)
  •         Hornell City School District residents 
  •         Out-of-district families may apply and will be considered for the 3PK and 4PK  program (see Out-of-District section)

REGISTRATION OPENS

  •         February 2, 2026
  •         March 2, 2026

HOW THE LOTTERY WORKS

  • All completed applications will be held until March 2, 2026.
  • If the number of completed applications for either 3PK or 4PK,  exceeds the number of available spaces, the district will conduct a lottery to select students for the program.
  • If a lottery is required, preference will be provided to resident students.
  • Any students not selected through the lottery process will be placed on a waitlist.
  • If a lottery is not required, all completed applications will be processed for placement without a lottery.

APPLICATIONS After March 2, 2026

After March 2, 2026, applications will be considered based on availability.

  • Resident students will be placed on a first-come, first-accepted basis, as space allows and will be notified of placement.
  • Non-resident students who apply after March 2, 2026 will have their applications held until July 1, 2026. At that time, the district will determine whether space is available or if the student will be placed on a waitlist.

Non-Resident District Families:

  • If your application is submitted prior to the lottery deadline or March 2nd, your child will be included in the lottery or offered placement, depending on the total number of applicants.
  •  Applications received after March 2nd will have their application held until July 1, 2026.
  • A determination will be made as to if there is room for the students, or if they will be on a waitlist.

TRANSPORTATION

  • 3PK:
    • There are a limited number of carseats for 3PK busing-submit your transportation application; which is included in the program registration packet.   This application is included in the registration packet. 
  • 4PK:
    •  If your child is 4 years of age, they can be provided with school transportation.
    • If your child enters 4PK as a 3 year old, district transportation will not be provided until they turn 4 years of age.
