Night at the North Hornell Museum

The North Hornell Elementary community came together for a truly memorable evening as the school celebrated its 100th day of school at the “Night at the North Hornell Museum.” Over 150 families came out, transforming the hallways into a vibrant showcase of creativity and learning.

The event centered around a special home-to-school project, where students and their families collaborated to create unique exhibits marking the 100th day. The range of projects was astounding, demonstrating the ingenuity of the students. From intricate structures built with 100 items to imaginative posters, energetic videos of 100 exercises, vibrant collages, and jars filled with 100 diverse household objects, the displays offered a fascinating glimpse into the students’ minds.

Adding a touch of whimsy, the Pre-K students paraded through the school dressed as their envisioned 100-year-old selves, sparking laughter and smiles throughout the building. This imaginative display served as the perfect, lighthearted kickoff to the evening’s festivities.

The “museum” was a hub of activity. Families toured the exhibits, engaging with the interactive displays and marveling at the students’ creations. Mrs. Wilson welcomed visitors to the library, where they received free books and participated in a fun craft activity. Over in the art room, Ms. Fridman guided attendees through creative projects involving stacking, counting, and planting, engaging families.

To complete the festive atmosphere, popcorn was served to all, adding a classic movie night feel to the event. Even an unexpected fire drill couldn’t dampen the spirits of the attendees, who patiently waited and returned to continue enjoying the evening, making the event even more memorable.

“All of the 100 day celebrations wouldn’t have been possible without the support of our dedicated staff,” said Principal Kate Wall. “Everyone worked together to make it a success. Thank you to everyone who helped bring this celebration to life and for making it such a fun and meaningful experience for our students and their families. The “Night at the North Hornell Museum” was a resounding success. It was a night filled with creativity, laughter, and learning.”
