Hornell High School’s National Honor Society members recently lent a hand to the community by participating in the Salvation Army’s annual Red Kettle Campaign. The dedicated students volunteered their time to ring the bell, raising funds for those in need during the holiday season.
Service is one of the four pillars of the National Honor Society, emphasizing the importance of giving back to the community. The participation in the Red Kettle Campaign showcased the students’ commitment to making a positive impact on the lives of others.
“See, there are still good people in this world,” said Sam Olix, a senior at Hornell High School. “I’m going to remember this day twenty years from now.” Sam’s words highlight the lasting impact that acts of service can have on young people.
To be a member of the National Honor Society, students must excel in academics, leadership, service, and character. These dedicated individuals maintain high grade point averages, actively participate in extracurricular activities, and demonstrate a commitment to their community.
