Hornell High School DECA Students Advance to State Competition

Three Hornell High School students earned top honors at the recent New York State DECA Regional Competition held at Alfred State College. DECA is an international career and technical student organization that prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs for careers in marketing, finance, hospitality, and management through competitive events that simulate real business scenarios and are judged by industry professionals.

Matthew Robinson placed first, Mia Nasca earned second place, and Claire Rose secured third place, with all three students demonstrating strong skills in marketing. They impressed judges with their professionalism, problem-solving abilities, and deep understanding of real-world business concepts.

In addition to his first-place finish, Matthew Robinson also placed second overall among the four schools in the region, further highlighting his creativity and preparation. “The success of these students reflects their hard work and dedication,” said Pam Mendel, DECA advisor. “This also demonstrates the strength of the Hornell High School business education program.”

Congratulations to our DECA students on an outstanding regional performance as they advance to the New York State DECA Competition in Rochester this March.
