Exciting changes are taking shape across the district as the Capital Improvement Project continues to bring significant upgrades to school buildings, classrooms and athletic facilities. Since construction began in the summer of 2024, numerous projects have been completed, with additional improvements underway and scheduled for completion in 2027.
One of the largest completed projects is the transformation of the Intermediate School. The former single-story wing at the front of the building was demolished and replaced with a brand-new two-story addition, providing much-needed classroom space for students. The project also included renovations to existing classrooms, reconstruction of the main office and health office, and the addition of a new playground. These improvements have created updated, welcoming spaces that better support teaching and learning.
Other completed projects throughout the district include the reconstruction of the tennis courts, security enhancements at each school building, a full-depth roofing replacement at North Hornell and roofing improvements to the High School B Gym. In spring 2026, the district also celebrated the completion of the High School athletic field turf replacement, providing an upgraded playing surface for student-athletes.
While much has been accomplished, construction continues on several exciting projects. At the High School, work is progressing on a new competition gymnasium that will feature a community-accessible elevated walking track. This major addition, expected to be completed in spring 2027, will provide expanded opportunities for athletics, physical education and community wellness.

Additional High School improvements include a new student fitness center, renovations to grades seven and eight classrooms, and bathroom reconstruction. Several of these projects are anticipated to be completed during winter 2027. At North Hornell, entry canopy reconstruction is also scheduled for fall 2026.
Together, these projects represent a significant investment in the future of the district. From modernized classrooms and improved security to enhanced athletic and recreational spaces, each improvement is designed to create a safer, more functional and engaging environment for students and staff.
