Long-range plan
The district’s long-range facilities plan is a 10-year roadmap to making needed improvements and enhancements to school buildings and district facilities in a fiscally prudent manner. The plan was developed through close consultation with faculty, staff, community members and district leadership.
Improvements focus on meeting student needs through renovations of classrooms, updating building infrastructure and addressing safety.
The long-range plan was approved by voters in two capital project votes and includes classroom renovations (Intermediate School and High School), a two-story classroom addition (Intermediate School), roof replacements (North Hornell Elementary and High School), installation of a new turf installation, construction of a large competition gymnasium with elevated track and safety updates to all the buildings. This also includes installation of new tennis courts to replace the old ones that are severely damaged and currently condemned.
Completed Construction
Construction began in the summer of 2024, marking the start of a series of exciting improvements across the district. Since then, significant progress has been made, with numerous projects completed and additional enhancements underway.

At the Intermediate School, the former single-story wing at the front of the building was demolished and replaced with a brand-new two-story classroom addition, providing much-needed instructional space for students. The project also included renovations to the main office, health office and existing classrooms, along with the installation of a new playground.

Throughout the district, completed improvements include reconstructed tennis courts, enhanced building security, roofing replacements and renovations, and the replacement of the High School athletic field turf.

Current Construction
Construction continues across the district as work progresses on several exciting projects designed to enhance learning opportunities and improve facilities for students, staff and the community. At the High School, work is underway on a new competition gymnasium, which will feature a community-accessible elevated walking track. The project is expected to be completed in spring 2027. Additional improvements include the construction of a new student fitness center, renovations to 6th, 7th and 8th grade classrooms, and bathroom reconstruction, with several projects anticipated to be completed during the winter of 2027.
At North Hornell, reconstruction of the entry canopy is scheduled for fall 2026. These ongoing projects build upon the many improvements already completed throughout the district as part of the Capital Improvement Project. We appreciate the continued patience and cooperation of our students, families, staff and community members as construction moves forward. Once completed, these upgrades will provide modernized spaces that support student learning, athletics, wellness and community engagement for years to come.
