The Hornell Intermediate School hosted a Moving Up ceremony for the 6th grade class. The 99 students and their families listened to speeches by Principal Julie Smith, Superintendent Jeremy Palotti, the 6th grade choir and student representatives from each class.
In her speech representing Mrs. Aini’s class, Ashlynne Voss recognized the support from teachers, friends and family. She said, “I can say that I did my best, but I can’t say I did my best on my own.”
School counselor Aryn Bailey and Smith presented the Comptroller Achievement Award, Attorney General’s Triple C Award and Character Awards.
The diplomas were presented to the students by the 6th grade teachers, Jane Aini, Theresa Ashworth, Kristen Hazard, Shelly McDaniels, Mickelle Thompson, Rebekah VanNorman and Marieka Woolever. The students paraded out of the auditorium to “Pomp and Circumstance.”
The Moving Up Day ceremony is available on the Hornell CSD Facebook page.
