Hornell High Celebrates DECA Success at Regional Competition

Hornell High School students recently showcased their exceptional business skills at the DECA Regional Competition held at Alfred State College. The competition involved a rigorous two-part process: a marketing test taken in early December, followed by a dynamic role-play presentation yesterday.

Students presented their marketing communication ideas to a panel of judges, who evaluated their presentations based on creativity, strategic thinking, and effective communication. The final scores were determined by combining the results of the written test and the role-play presentations.

Mia Nasca emerged as a standout performer, achieving 1st Place for Hornell and an impressive 2nd Place overall among all participating schools in the region. Quinn Mauro secured 2nd Place for Hornell, and Calem Striker earned 3rd Place.

“This was the second time I have participated in the DECA regional competition,” said Calem Striker, senior. “I really enjoyed my time and was very happy with my results! It is always a very fun day, and the competition is exceptionally well-organized.”

The success of these students shows their hard work, dedication, and the exceptional guidance they receive from their teachers. It is important to acknowledge the invaluable contributions of the volunteer judges who generously dedicate their time to evaluate student presentations and provide constructive feedback.

Hornell High School extends its congratulations to Mia, Quinn, and Calem on their outstanding achievements. We wish them the very best as they prepare for the DECA State Career Conference in March.
