Covid-19 updates from Hornell City School District

In our weekly update this week, we continue to experience the impact of covid-19 with students and employees with positive cases and quarantines.  Fortunately for the second week in a row, we are seeing a decrease in the number of cases reported.

As a reminder, if your child is ill or otherwise showing symptoms of covid, keep them home.  As a school, we can work with you and even provide rapid testing at no cost to help identify cases and keep the impact and spread to a minimum.  Whenever in doubt, contact one of our nurses and discuss symptoms and if testing for covid makes sense.

For those families with children home with covid or quarantined as a contact, please be aware that the district currently has afterschool tutoring M-Th in the High School for students in grades 7-12 for extra help.  While this is open to all students for extra help, it may prove to be especially helpful for those coming back from a quarantine.  If you have any questions about this, please contact the High School main office.

The Intermediate School will also be starting their afterschool program shortly.  While this isn’t a drop in program, it is something that is open to all students that they can register to participate in.

As a district, we remain committed to educating our students, remaining open and in person, and keeping all involved safe.   Please be on the look out each week for updates as they relate to the health and safety of our school.
