Covid-19 updates from Hornell City School District

In our weekly update this week, we continue to experience the impact of covid-19 with students and employees with positive cases and quarantines.

Below you will see the weekly count for student and employee positives within our district.

As a reminder, if your child is ill or otherwise showing symptoms of covid, keep them home.  As a school, we can work with you and even provide rapid testing at no cost to help identify cases and keep the impact to a minimum.

As with last week’s numbers, this week we did not experience significant quarantines, except in one particular classroom.  In this case, a larger scale quarantine occured out of caution due to the uniqueness of this class.

As a reminder, we are not sending a global message daily with positive cases.  Rather, we are reporting them to everyone on Friday.  When cases do occur in a classroom we are communicating to those parents of those classes involved even when a quarantine does not occur.  Those parents whose children had positive cases in their classes this week received a short note sent home with their child(grades PK-6) indicating the positive or received a robo message (grades 7-12) with the same message.  All parents of students that are considered to be contacts recieve a call from the school with this information and the length of quarantine they can expect.

This week, we learned of 21 positive cases of covid in our schools.  Here is the breakdown:
