COVID-19 updates from Hornell City School District:
As you are aware, the school requirement for masks to be worn at schools ended on Wednesday, March 2. In the Hornell City School District mask wearing is optional in all of our schools and on our buses. Complete guidance for schools from the NYSDOH can be found by clicking here.
As mentioned early this week, creating a safe environment has been the cornerstone of our work as we navigate through this pandemic. Diligent cleaning and sanitizing procedures were enhanced through the pandemic and will continue, even with changes in masking.
The district continues to have an abundant supply of home tests from NYSDOH. If you have a need for home tests, please contact the main office of your child’s school and they will be available for pick up or to be sent home with your child if you desire.
This update will likely represent the last weekly update on covid for the foreseeable future. This week, we had just two positive cases of covid within our schools. Both were in our High School. With numbers of positive cases and those in quarantine significantly reduced, the need for school updates too has been reduced. Should the numbers of positive cases increase or should the school guidance also change, we will be in touch to communicate any and all updates.
The last two years have been incredibly taxing on all of us. It is great to see our case numbers so low and great to return to more of a sense of normalcy and hope that this trend will continue.
If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact your child’s principal or the district office.
