Covid-19 updates from Hornell City School District
As you may already have learned, the governor announced today that the school requirement for masks to be worn at schools will end on Wednesday, March 2.
When mask wearing becomes optional on Wednesday, March 2, the Hornell City School District will follow that guidance and mask wearing will be optional in all of our schools and on our buses. Please understand that for some, the removal of this requirement will be a relief; for others, they may not be ready to not wear a mask in school. As a school community, it will be important for us to be respectful of others and the choices they and their parents are making. This pandemic has been hard for everyone and exiting it may also be challenging for some. Kindness, respect, and understanding of others are always important characteristics to maintain and will prove to be invaluable as we move through this next phase.
Creating a safe environment has been the cornerstone of our work as we navigate through this pandemic. Diligent cleaning and sanitizing procedures were enhanced through the pandemic and will continue, even with changes in masking.
The district still has an abundant supply of home tests from NYSDOH. If you have a need for home tests, please contact the main office of your child’s school and they will be available for pick up or to be sent home with your child if you desire.
If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact your child’s principal or the district office.
