Update on reopening guidance for Hornell Schools
Late yesterday afternoon, the New York State Education Department released a health and safety guide for the reopening of K-12 public schools this fall, including information on vaccinations, masking, health screening, physical distancing, contact tracing and more. We are currently reviewing this guidance and will continue to work with local schools and the county health department to determine the best course of action for reopening Hornell schools this fall.
As a district, we remain committed to welcoming all students back into our buildings for full time, in-person instruction but care must be taken to do so in the safest, most responsible manner possible. I am sure that you are anxious for more information and we are working to finalize our plans as soon as possible. Thank you for your patience and trust that we are carefully considering all information available prior to making any final recommendations.
We anticipate finalizing Hornell’s reopening plan next week, and will share out all details with the school community via the district website and district notification system as soon as it is available.
