Intermediate staff member, HS student test positive for COVID

The Hornell City School District has learned that a staff member at the Intermediate school and a student at the High School have tested positive for COVID-19.

The Intermediate school employee did not report to work when ill, alerted administration and was tested with results then coming to us quickly. The immediate result and notification allowed the district to mitigate further contact, beginning tracing and exclude employees and students who have been in contact with the individual. Students that were contacts were not in session today. They are being contacted and excluded to begin quarantine immediately. Employees that were in contact with this employee yesterday also were excluded before they could be considered to be contacts to other students or employees today. rooms that were occupied by the positive employee have been closed for cleaning. 

The High School student who was diagnosed today was connected to a known positive case and has not been in school since December 3. There are no contacts associated with this case at school.
